Join the Circle

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the women I gather with regularly. Girlfriends from school, meditation friends, yoga class, spiritual directors, a large neighborhood choir. My social circles lean feminine. We laugh a lot, sometimes cry, and often share stories.

How many female ancestors have gone before us, sitting by fires in the kitchen with sisters, mothers, daughters, grandmothers, and friends? For millennia, women have relied on the bonds of female friendships for support and understanding, for essential knowledge and wisdom.

How many female ancestors have gone before us, sitting by fires in the kitchen? For millennia, women have relied on the bonds of female friendship for essential knowledge and wisdom.

In this spirit, I created greencallings.com to offer information I’ve gathered during my own midlife transition. Whether news, books, media, research, lessons from teachers, or personal reflections, my sincere hope is that you find something valuable in these posts. As I’m writing today, I imagine us sitting around a large fire under a stary sky.

If the idea of a fireside community appeals to you, I’m opening the doors again to the Midlife Women’s Circle. This will be a small group of women who meet online weekly for five weeks, 90 minutes a session—to share, reflect, and dream into the second half of life. There is no homework because this is not a class. I am the facilitator but not the teacher. The wisdom that arises from the circle is our teacher.

I’m not great at social media—to put it mildly!—but I believe so strongly in creating communities for women that I’ll be posting about this circle on Facebook and Instagram. If you have friends who may be interested, I’d be grateful and honored if you’d pass along the opportunity and link. 💚 Registration is now open and we’ll meet on Wednesday evenings, beginning September 20.
